By definition in soccer, passing comprises all the tools for transferring the ball to a teammate on the pitch, either with the feet or with the head. Passes also allow for the reversal of plays from one side of the field to the other, as well as tables (which are quick exchanges of the ball between two players).
In a finishing situation, the passes that give rise to shots and consequent goals are called assists.
